Interestingly, bachelorette parties have only been around a short time. Back in the 1960’s and 1970’s, no one had ever heard of such a party.  Sure, the bride had a bridal party but nothing like today’s tradition.  During the old parties, the bride was given all types of gifts she would need as a new bride.  For example, she would receive a can opener, clock, toaster, and so on.  Today, the bachelorette party is strictly a time when friends get together for a little bit of fun.

The bachelorette party that we know now is a girl’s night out so to speak.  Just as the groom and his groomsmen have their fun, you know the old saying, “Turnabout is fair play.”   Just remember that if you want the groom to follow certain guidelines, then that means you too must adhere to the limits.  Many couples have actually gotten into horrific fights over these parties so it is always a good idea to set boundaries and then follow them. While you may not care much the night of the party, you will the next day and the rest of your married life.

If you want to have a wild night hopping from bar to bar or visiting a strip club, that is one way to have a bachelorette party but other options are more respectable and honestly just as fun.  Rather than go out to strip clubs to watch male strippers, why not get everyone together for a big back yard girls only BBQ!

By being creative, you can still have just as much fun, just in a different way.  If you do want something different, do something like a whale watching tour. Just imagine telling the groom and his clan the day of the wedding that you and the bridal party went whale watching or sea kayaking . You will be the envy of them all.

Another excellent option is to have all the women treated to a full massage and facial.  Start out with an elegant brunch at a quaint restaurant, and then allow yourself to be pampered the way you deserve.  Another option is to take a hike up the mountains where you can mediate among nature or take a long bike ride.

This is your special time with friends who mean something special in your life. You want this to be a memorable occasion that not only you but also everyone will enjoy. Talk with your Maid of Honor and Brides Maids and ask them if they have any unusual or unique suggestions. It might be something as simple as taking private golf lessons to something as invigorating as learning how to roller skate. Having a bachelorette party does not mean you have free reins to go crazy but it does mean you have free reins to have fun and enjoy your last night as a single woman.
